Default I bought a very rare ZX!

    Well as it says, I bought a 1992 ZX 2.0 16v.
It does have a few issues, but for £500, I can't complain too much!

Trouble with many second hand cars, is they are not all owned by really anal people, who like things to be "just so", and will happily bodge things up to get by...

The rear exhaust is the wrong one for the car, and has been welded to the middle pipe.
The Exhaust manifold to cat joint has bolts that are too long, so it blows like hell...
There is no thermostat, so the car is really cold...
the handbrake cables were not secured,
    Headlights not secured,
Chevron badges on bonnet upside down... (I bloody hate that)
    Sun roof drain tubes blocked
Front door speakers wrong size for car, rear speakers missing
It needs a service too, as there is no evidence of when the cam belt was last done.
Just a bit to be getting on with, but it was only bought as a stop gap car until my BX is welded up.

    Bankruptcy court here you come.

It does look shiny though. I can see why it attracted you.

Five hundred pounds! You could have bought two XM estates with the recent way they're priced.

I went onto the UK governments car register database, and there are only 19 of these cars left either on, or off the road!

How accurate is that, though? I've heard all sorts of stories about the database crawlers such as howmanyleft, being rather wrong.

Nice looking car actually. I regard our excellent 306 as a Peugeot-adjusted ZX!

It can be quite off the mark, but in this case I tend to believe it, because the 16v ZX was not a common car to start with.
Most ZX cars you ever see here, are diesel ones, so being petrol is uncommon to start with.

It is... the ZX came before the 306! But technically they are the same car.

Right up there with BMC badge engineering but much more style and quality to start with!

I finally saw a ZX in the flesh this Easter in Western Australia. Nice lines.

Our 1995 306 is the only car we have ever bought new. Now 17 years young it never misses a beat. My wife refuses point blank to upgrade. I imagine a good ZX would be great.

Looks like a riced-up ZX otherwise like Smiffy's. Did they do anything like that from the factory?

They're Morette headlight kits. I think, on a Series 2 car.

Also sold in very limited quantities for the XM and Xantia!

I could buy the State of Victoria in Australia for 300.00 quid, that includes Moonah trees, and local loonie Councils, does not includ debt.

Not really a fan of those headlights.
I think there was another maker who did one for the ZX, which had square lights...looked much nicer.
