it was advertised as bieng in penrith about a month ago
    moves around a bit
he might be making it sound like there is more than one out there
either that or everyone knew the car in penrith and thought it might sell if he changed the suburb

Or it could be a real dog of a car...... wink

Would love to here what the previous owners etc have to say about it, being that the price when it first was for sale (about 1 year ago??) was approx $8-9000??

Maybe theres a fundamental flaw, although what that could be I have no idea.....

Not trying to put anyone down (eg the owner) but could be.

It's probably being bought by the jap import set.....and they are disappointed when the thing actually has a fighting chance of going around a corner (scraping it's doorsills all the way).....rather than being set up as a "dorifto" machine

it will get bought by someone who will scrap the car and stick the engine into something else

my thinking is that i wouldn't pay anymore than around 3-3.5 for the car as it is
even though it has had a lot of work done to it it still needs quite a bit from what i have seen to tidy it up and make it respectable

Looks to me like a project. Buy the car. Dismantle (including removing the motor). Strip paint. Fix rust. Prepare for paint and re-spray. Examine, replace as necessary, and reassemble suspension bits. Lower springs. Reassemble rest of car. Have motor trimmer sort out the various interior bits which need sorting. Purchase alloy wheels and decent tyres.

Be at least $5k out of pocket plus the cost of the car, but it would be nice.

    Cheers,
    John Lane.

This IS interesting; from the Australian Citroens Classifieds Board.

"O.K. its not strictly a Citroen, but part of the family (PSA group) and has a CX 5 speed gearbox.
If you dont know what a Murena is, see description below.

You wont ever drive along and see another one!
1982 model with 1.6l engine 197,000 kms (150,000 with me) with new leather interior, looks and drives like new and has been in my in my possession for 17 years. however I cannot fit my three children in with me and so it must go!

Full service history and cherished for all of them

Matra Murena is, well its a fabulous looking three seater mid engined sports car, built between 1981 & 1984 in Romarantin when Matra was part of the PSA group.
Body is fibreglass, the chassis was the first production car to be fully zinc galvanised.
and so the car will never rust!!!
The Murena was the the most aerodynamic car production car when released and is amazingly comfortable for three with a huge boot by sports car standards.
It was produced with either a 1.6l or 2.2l engine
both with 5 speed gearbox however when Renault bought Matra they insisted the Murena stop production as Renault also owned Alpine. "

    .........and it looks like this:-

Very nice! I have a very recent article on the Murena in Classic & Sports Car. If anyone's interested I'll scan it. The Murena has an interesting history and sad demise at the hands of Peugeot and Renault.
