FS 505 STI (GTI running gear)

I'm heading for a biodiesel experiment, so my 505 STI is coming up for sale.

Its an 84 model in metallic blue.

    • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Has had EFI from a GTI model fitted in place of the original mechanical injection gear. Wiring loom, etc. all nicely installed. Everything was cleaned and checked at time of installation (last year.) Motor would pass for a GTI if it didn't say STI on the boot-lid.
    • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Goes as well as a well-tuned STI with a lot less fiddling, better cold running, etc.
    • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">GTI-type suspension with original Peugeot shocks, handles beautifully.
    • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Original interior in blue, back seat has had very little use.
    • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Nice tight gearbox, steering rack... easy to drive (fun, too!)
    • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Metallic blue paint.
    • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">NSW Rego till November.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Tomorrow I'll put some batteries in my digital camera and take some photos.
The car has mostly been used (since I've had it) for highway trips, both short (to my parent's place in Bungendore) and long (been to Byron Bay, Sydney a half-dozen times, etc.) I wouldn't hesitate to take it almost anywhere.

    $2800, possibly negotiable. wink

Well, the girl who was going to buy it found an auto, so here are some pics:

There were 3 in the paper on the weekend, she must have gone for the STI for 2950, a decision she may come to regret.

That is a nice looking unit you have there. I am in Townsville, but am due to be in Nowra doing a course early July. If it is still unsold, I would be interested in having a look at it. If this is possible, could you get in touch with me closer to the date and possibly arrange something?

    Cheers

    Greg,

No worries... I finish uni for a few weeks come Saturday (yay!!!) and I'll be trekking to/from Sydney around that time (either in my friend's brand new Corolla or my trusty Pug if I still have it), so I might even be able to meet you half way...

parry - I've been and gone mate, you should have given me a call. If your mate's keen, I'll bring the car up in a week for him to look at it, for petrol cost ($30), no obligation to buy (but I reserve the right to put it in the SMH.)

Car cruised to Sydney and back no worries (as it has done a half-dozen times before), but has given me some signs that the battery may not last the winter (it's pretty old.) I'll knock $100 off the price to cover the cost of a replacement.

To clarify on some questions I've had:

    1) Car has 281,000km on it (motor is definitely not tired, has been serviced religiously by me, and looks like it was serviced fairly regularly by its previous owners - lots of new/near-new bits when I got it.)

    2) Car has 15 inch wheels, not Metrics. Rolling on Michelin Pilot HX tyres bought near-new last November, plenty of tread left. The rear two wheels were restored by The Wheel Factory in Queanbeyan last year, at a cost of $350. The front two were pretty good so I didn't bother, but you could get them done for cosmetic reasons/to make it perfect.

    3) Car has no rust, and a straight body bar some parking lot dents and a very small patch on the roof where the metallic finish has come off the paint (the clearcoat underneath is still present so no signs of rust there.)

    4) Buyer has option of a variety of bits, sourced from two other cars I stripped down.

    5) Interior is pretty nice as you can see, bar the driver's seat which has two rips.

    6) Air con was blowing cold last summer, but now needs a re-gas. It has a pretty new condensor fitted so I think it probably won't need retrofitting to R134a. Not much call for air con here in Canberra.

If Gus takes your offer you have bought a good car... He's gone to a lot of trouble to make it nice in areas where it counts.

I've always been a Citroen man as I grew up in Laos where there were LOTS of French cars, and the Citroens were the best. My first car was an ID20F Safari BEFORE I HAD MY LICENCE!! Boy was I stupid!! It nearly wrecked my marriage. Then I tried Renaults, you know, 16s, 18s and 20s. Then I bought a 30 and the parts situation has defeated me. So I now have my first Peugot and 505s have a good reputation and are CHEEEEEP! So, thanks for the good wishes and I hope it goes well too. Otherwise, my next car is a Jap. Sorry guys.

    SOLD!

Welcome to the Pug Club. .

Thanks for the glowing endorsements, guys.

I've canned my cool biofuels plans for now ($$$ limitations) but hopefully I'm going to pick up a nice bomb to last me the next few months, something I can sink bugger all money into!
