    RENAULT R30TS FOR SALE

I've just bought myself a nice 505 so my little Renault R30TS is for sale. 1976, English import, but engined replaced with bigger 2.8ltr PRV V6 with K-Jetronic last year (also had to fit a R25 fuel tank). Around 280,000kms for the body and 180,000kms for the motor, which had the heads cleaned out. Near new Michelin tyres, Renault alloy wheels, new rear shocks and springs, new gas struts for rear hatch, plus the usual central locking, electric windows, momo leather steering wheel, racing seat. Good interior. Goes like the clappers with larger engine (155hp). Registered till Sep/04 Problem: Needs one drive shaft, otherwise, no other work required. The price is $1600. Any interest out there?

Come on keep talking, you got me interested but you haven't said whether it's auto or manual, 4sp or 5sp. Come on, don't keep it to yourself.

Yes IPB205, it's the GREEN THING!!! Light metallic green but the front guards and bonnet have been replaced and I've sprayed them with garden furniture green to make them match the rest of the car. Like alot of cars, it doesn't look so good on the outside but it has what it takes under the bonnet.

Sorry DanielSydney, I don't have a digital camera. It's pretty straight but there is some bubbling on the bottom of a couple of the doors. Only other rust is under the passenger seat cushion.

This is a series 1 am I right. It's got the funny door handles hasn't it (different to the 20).
It's got the disc rear end, yes!
    It's mechanically good, Yes!
    It's a V6 injection, 5 speed manual and it's only $1600, Yes.

Your a bugger, how can I refuse it, I'm getting all sweaty, how can I say no. I've got to stay focused, I've just bought a new house and I'm right in the middle of moving, last thing I need is another car. I need another drink.

    David,

The doors are series II. The original owner couldn't stand the series I handles either and got some new doors and resprayed them. Also, the springs on the original series rear hatch have been ditched and replaced with nice new gas struts - opens way above your head so no head banging anymore. Did I also mention the entire exhaust system was replaced 6 months ago? Yeah, I've also replaced the alternator and starter motor in the last 12 months too. If I only had a driveshaft, I wouldn't have to sell the bl***dy thing!

    How's the driveshaft?
Is it just noisy and would need replacing one day or is it totally stuffed and it wouldn't make it round the block?

Are the original doors still around?

I had a cold shower Damien but it didn't work so now I'm starting on Burbon and Coke.

The inner boot of the right driveshaft shattered leaving the driveshaft in two pieces. It's stuffed! Left one is fine. Original doors long gone.

    Sorry Renaults-Also-Go,

My wife is threatening me with the "S" word, I pointed out that our marrige vows state that the words Sell and Gordini must never be used in the same sentence. She says she's not talking about the Gordini's but one of the others must go. I suggested her MI16 so guess where I'm sleeping tonight. I'm not saying no to the 30 yet, I'm just trying different tactics.

Just park it in a barn down the back of the new property and tell her you found it there...

P.S...Say hello to the dog for me

P.P.S...That engine and box would fit quite well in the fuego.....until I try to turn sharply mallet

She might beleive that. There's a house down the street with 2 or 3 R16's in the front yard and around the corner is a house with a line up of old 504's so she might beleive I found a 30 down the back of the yard.

    Dog says woof woof.

That V6 Fuego we built handled better than a standard Fuego. I'd build another one except with my luck I'd get pulled over by the only cop in the state who would know it's modified.

Easy come easy go David. It's sitting forlorn and bird turd encrusted at the back of Alpine Motors, where my wife towed it after the drive shaft shattered. Alpine will let me keep there as long as I like, and it's in good company with all the other wrecks they keep there. mallet

I presume the 30 "bits" could not easily transplant into a 20? Begs the question what is different geometrically? Are the shafts different?

I think the engine will transplant, but because the gearbox is different, the 20 driveshafts don't fit properly, so I am still left with my problem of no driveshaft. I have two 20 wrecks (both running). dead

Alpine Motors is in Canberra, a long way from Melbourne. I'll see if I can borrow the digital camera from work and put some pictures on the web. It's pretty straight. The previous owner had a front prang and replaced all the panels with multi-coloured ones, which I have sprayed with a can of green garden furniture paint to match the light metallic green of the rest of the car. I bought it for $1800 and have spent a small fortune on the mechanicals, especially replacing all engine and installing the new fuel tank and fuel injection system. I don't really want to sell it, but it's useless without another driveshaft. They tell me the 5 speed gearbox is valuable, but no bites so far.

Some parts of the fuel system of my beloved R25V6 were transplanted into this green machine after its mishap.

Will the 30 bell housing bolt to the 20 G/Box?. Is the input shaft the same or, if not, can it be swapped?

The data on my 20 says it has a type 369 box. I hope this helps.
