    Cool looking 404 Wagon FS...

I thought i would post this AD for a customer who doen't have the net.
I have had a look at this car, the rust is minimal, drives really good, and for $1,000, you can't go wrong...Would look great with a couple of surf boards on the roof.

Oh, I'm in love! Tell 'em if they get it to WA (it's a nice drive...) I'll give them $1000 for it. My 11-year-old has already decided he wants a 404 for his first car. He thinks 306s are nice, but 404s are nicer.

    Cheers,
    John Lane.

be even better if it was the later hypoid diff model with the BA7 box in it
and of course i know where one is but it needs a bit of work
good thing is though about the one i know about is it has a genuine 70k odd miles on it
has the typical A/C through the floor and the bits in the doors and sills
and of course in true 404 style rust under the front lip of the bonnet
i might think about it but would prefer a 403 wagon
then again i could V6 the 404 wagon and splice a 3.58 diff into it

By the look of the gearlever, it is a BA7 model, and there's an even greater chance there's a hypoid diff under it.

Is the paintwork blotchy, or is that something to do with the photos or scanning?

    Ray,
The trim and dash date it as an early model. It may have had a late gearbox fitted.
The hypoid diff won't fit this model without heaps of modification (mainly to floor pan).
On the bright side a late 404 sedan diff centre will bolt straight in to give a better cruising speed.

to me it looks like it's parked in reverse the way the car is sitting there
i would take it to be a C3 box and worm diff

i'm still up in the air as to what to do about this other one though

if i put it back on the road i am going to have to do some fairly extensive welding

it all comes down to is a 404 wagon worth it in the end ????

So what is it Adrian H pattern gear shift or swastika? To me it looks like a nazi going by the trim but the steering wheel looks modern. Well as modern as it can be for a 404, I get some odd looks of people when I describe later model 404s as modern, guess it just depends on where your looking from. regards, cane toad.

On having a second look I'd say early series deluxe model, sold something similar a month ago and really miss the conveniene of it. Keeping my eye out for a good 504 wagon to match the new sedan I like things to match. Shame W.A. is so far away. regards, cane toad.

Looks like a custom (bovine-style?) paintjob, judging by the splodge on the rear-side window.

I am pretty sure the car has the BA7, and the Hypoid diff setup.

The car is in Mt Evelyn Victoria (Melbourne).

The paintwork is custom, like a surfie type look.
