Hi AJ - just curious, is this a 1015 motor? What year did they change over to 1220?

    Hi Graham

Not sure about dates without checking up, but my GSpecial is a 1015cc, I also have an unreg GSpecial which is 1974 that is also a 1015cc in fact it would have been identical before respray (to white ).
    Regards

    Hi again Graham

I think that the 1015cc engine was produced from 1970 to 79, and the 1222cc was produced from 1972 to 79. Iam sure some other Citroen nut will tell us if thats wrong, My 1015cc are sedans, I do have 2 wagons but they are both 1220 Clubs.
    Regards

This list should help ID which car should be what and the engine that it has.

I thought that the 1015 motor was discontinued for the Australian 1973 model year, I remember a someone dad knew buying a GS wagon in early/mid 1973 which was supposed to be one of the first 1220 models.

1220 motors type G12/611 and G12/612 came into production on the GC and GD(->9/74) series estates from 09/1972. Same with the saloons series GR(9/72->9/74) and GH(->9/74)From 10/1974 the G12/619 65 HP 8.7:1 compression became available. Now where did I leave my anorak? My last GS had the 619 powerplant and it was amazing the difference those extra 5 horses made. Still brings a sigh when I see it sitting outside Mcleods.
