Default Wanted 504 Auto No Body Rust, Panel Damage Ok

ok.. i am going to do the unthinkable... im in the market for a 504 that has a chassis thats in good nick, with no rust anywhere other than panels that i can remove.. could be a tough call to make, but im sure someone has something worthy out there...

    Should I or shouldn't I?

I have one that's pretty close to what you want... '79 504 auto with one spot of rust in the bits you'd worry about... the right rear guard. Not too bad in the panel department either.

I just don't know if I want to sell it or keep it... pretty good seats and trim, definitely has to be painted, though it doesn't look too bad.

sounding good mate, how much you looking at selling her for?

in the end, it is up to you, of course... it'd be stripped down to nothing and rebuilt from scratch, everything replaced that i possibly can... my one isnt too bad, but it has a bit of rust that i need to mess with first...

    any chance of some photos?

That's what the one I've got is all about... I phoned up about it, learned the Arabs had their hooks into it (they were sending a truck to get it) and had to convince the bloke of what was going on.

I do have photos, but my scanner decided that it's not going to work at this time... watch this space.

Yeah, well, it helps if you turn the thing on!

You can see the paint blemishes there, some minor damage at the front... bumper bent at the rear (I can give you a good one with it)... no towbar.

It drives well, but the auto is on the way out. I assume you have plans to add a BA10/5?

Like I said, I bought it so the Arabs would miss out on a good one. I do want my money back, but that's all... if I decide to sell.

    Talk me into it... please...

And honestly, the rust is a fairly easy fix. I might even get it done for you.

Oh yeah... as you can see, it's a country car, always lived well away from beaches and other salt traps. Very sound in the body...

looks well worth the effort to restore it - not too many left in that good a condition. One of the 504s those bastards took off me under false pretenses was pretty much in that condition, only it had a factroy sunroof. Was VERY PISSED OFF when I found out what had happened to it....

Nice one Ray - glad to see another saved and kept here

righty o then ray, thanks for that... looks liek my current one deserves to be sent off to the arabs more than that one! they tried for mine, but i told them to shove it...

yeah, itll get a ba10/5 eventually most probably... where abouts is it and how much did u have to buy it for?

ps where abouts is the rust?

    thanks again ray!

Tell you what... we'll make up a nice package with your old one... fill it with dud pieces (I have a locked up diff in stock, and a maggoty gearbox, and let's say an empty block with a head that's had a valve fall in... that should do them. You sell it to the Arabs with that.

Phone me on 0409 063 662 and we can talk numbers and details... I can ring you back if you like...

not a problem... will need to be friday arvo or monday.. weekend im all out of time...

is there really a need to give the arabs anything? id much rather pay the amount in question, have my current one (my brother also wants a 504), and fix up the '79, worry about my '73 later?

    i agree

    give them nothing

i detest these people with a passion and wouldn't even give them a dud box or locked up diff

    bugger them i say

better off throwing things in for land fill rather than letting them have anything (flamin thieves they are)

lucky i don't say what i really want to say

    Default 504 bits

Janek, how much of a chassis do you want?
I'm breaking a diseasel which although the bonnet and boot are good , all doors are missing the lower edge as is the well section in front of the screen. The front screen had a star chip in which I didn't see before I attempted to cut it out. The rear 1/4 panel is vacant but the floor and rails are still good. It was parked in a yard here for about ten years.

If there is anything your little heart desires contact me as I hope to finish the stripdown before the long weekend.

as mentioned earlier, all im really after is a shell that is acs close to rustless as possible... front 1/4 panels and doors dont bother me, just as long as there is no rust in bad areas... minor rust that can easily be bogged or even cut and mig welded in is ok, as long as its small... oh yeah, and it would be rather handy if the car was driveable too... unless its within sydney or someone owns a tow truck!

    Hi Janek,

I know of a pretty rust free early (72) 504 Auto that can be had for $100 - blown head gasket, missing passenger's front window, but otherwise looks fairly clean.

It is in Western Sydney, and is likely to be crushed if not sold. Drop me a PM if you are interested.

Did we conclude that the 1972 model doesn't have the larger tunnel for the auto?

not a clue ray... but even so, if its going to be scrapped, may as well save it and at least get some panels off it... does it drive?

havent figured out how to pm yet, so bear with me

    Default glass

Ok the window glass is but one channel is rusted. The rear is a heated & that looks complete.
Call me on 0419982665 if you ( or anybody else ) is interested,
Anything that cannot be used in the ute will be cleared out. All I need to do is cover the original cost in complete parts.
I'm thinking of keeping the diesel and power train but am "cutting" the body from around it. The floor is ok so I'll lift the body off.
