Who cares? You cannot register them in australia? So unless you want a parts car or a race car its pretty pointless. Unless you can shed some light on these vehicles and how easy it is to compliance them?

    Cheers Nick

    Default 15 Year old imports

There is no restriction to import 15 year old vehicles and they can be registered in all states. Roadworthys can cost around $200 to $1,000

    Yep you're right,

we've had this discussion on the forum before, the 15 year rule applies, as do the special interest/performance vehicle provisions (ie: there is a list of approved imports less than 15 yrs of age which can be complianced by a licensed compliancer - you have to identify a vehicle off the list - there aren't that many frogs on it and find someone who has a licence to comply the particular vehicle) and there are interesting vehicles on yahoo.

The 15 year rule is pretty straightforward - you can import and register just about anything 15 years or older with out too much hassle. Search the site and you will find previous threads that explain this stuff.

I haven't checked that link, but if you can get on to Yahoo auctions you will be able to find vehicles in Japan. Alternatively check previous threads posted here as links were included if I recall.

If your Japanese is a bit rusty try checking www.trademe.co.nz and searching the cars section.

There are 38 Renaults listd this morning and a fair number would qualify under the 15 year rule including a nice looking 1986 25 with a current auction price of $530 NZD
