Engine Diagnostics Warning Light

When I start my 306 S16 - the Engine Diagnostics Warning Light comes on for around 30 seconds after the car has been started and then goes out.

The car was only serviced two months ago, should I be concerned ?

Or should I just wait a little longer ?

My BX16V tends to do this when it hasn't been driven for a few days. I find a couple of runs up around the 6K mark seems to sort it out; I have a feeling it just may be condesation or crap on a sensor, possibly lambda in my instance.

mine was doing that and continued even after a service shortly after it wouldnt idle ..... Ive just spent 1300 fixing it and I was supossedly lucky
but hey who knows
hope it gets sorted

every time that light comes on, the error is recorded in the ECU. Get someone to extract it, look up the fault code, and do something about it.

As Alan said, more than likely the mixtures are outside the range of the lamda sensor at startup.

Apparently mine keeps getting triggered by dodgy fuel...

hey chris
took it down to P504 and turns out that the camtiming belt tensioner had collapsed and the belt had jumped out 4 teeth. so I needed a new belt , tensioner , Cam and crank seals and a harmonic balancer as that was slipping too thankfully no valves were damaged they said I was really lucky as it could have been much worse, but shes running fantastically now
:wink2:

Stopped in at the PUG Service center to find out what the error is - they couldn't connect up to the ECU as their Internet was down (didn't know that it was done over the internet).

They had a look at my PUGs startup and said it was normal and not to worry about it. They said that the Engine Diagnostics Warning Light always comes on at startup as the engine does a complete check. For some unknown reason, mine is just starting to take a little longer to perform a self check.

His only parting comment was "worry" when it starts blinking.

Don't worry mine does that too...

takes about 30 seconds after firing the little beasty up, before the light goes off...

I'm waiting for greg (from greg kent) to get a ECU reader (he's getting one shortly) so he can fault test mine... i'm sure it will have a few... most cars have issuies with my driving style...

I guess I'm wondering why mine is taking so long, it didn't before .........

running with a 386 under the bonnet with WINDOWS 95 !!!!!

Maybe he was going to post the question on Aussiefrogs to see if anyone could tell him what was wrong. :roflmao: :roflmao:   :nownow:

Why? Mine comes on amd flashes and blinks from time to time. Been doing it for years.

The only time mine has ever gone off quickly was one time when I put a bottle of injector cleaner in, many years ago. It was some sort of synthetic one came in a yellow bottle, but I haven't ever seen it again. I remember I was extremely surprised that the light went out within about 5 seconds, it had always taken much longer (probably around the 20-30 second mark) even when I first got it at 18 months old.

Only times mine has come on whilst driving were after a bad batch of fuel, and when I had a loose battery terminal (warning loose battery terminals fry the aircond ECU!!! at least the zenner diode in it anyway).....

A friend who has a 106 CLUB said his is on all the time due to the after market ECU.

Haven't seen any Aussie 106's in the forum - did you guys get them ?

Has the ECU handed over any dark secrets ?????

I've never had it plugged into a diagnostics computer.

To answer your question, we never got the 106 in Australia. Shame really.
